Grady V's American Bistro has been a staple restaurant of the Thibodaux Country Club since 2009. In 2020, with the on-boarding of a new executive chef, and a desire to attract more customers outside of the Country Club sphere, Grady V's revamped their entire concept from an upper-crust bistro to a down-to-earth Cajun restaurant.
Cajun culture is rooted in humble means, and its people maintain a "work hard, play hard" attitude. Everything Cajun is homegrown, homemade, and rustic in nature, and I sought to achieve a visual brand that reflected that. My hopes was that stepping into Grady V's felt less like stepping into an exclusive country club venue, and more like walking into your grandmother's house, or your buddy's backyard.
Additionally, the client wanted to create a space that not just locals would enjoy, but would invite travellers that have found their way along Louisiana's bayou. This inspired elements within the brand to reflect a "destination" feel, including imagery of old maps of the local area, and a logo just a bit reminiscent of license plates.
